A Turkish and an Australian family are drawn together by the common thread of war in their past.
 
Ellie and her mother travel to Turkey to attend the dawn ceremony at Anzac Cove, Gallipoli. During their stay at a boarding house run by a Turkish woman and her daughter, Zeynep, a friendship develops between the two girls, who are drawn together when they discover their grandfathers fought on opposite side in the same war.
