Overview
Doctor Dolittle's Post Office is a 1923 children's novel by Hugh Lofting where Doctor Dolittle establishes a postal service for animals on the West Coast of Africa, which grows into a global operation after he discovers animal alphabets and a forgotten island populated by prehistoric creatures. The episodic story also features the Doctor's efforts to help a woman by rescuing her husband from slave traders and ends with his journey to meet the ancient Mudface the Turtle.
