This is a book about both the historical mehtod and the content of Australian history.  it offers an insight into how historians use evidence in building up a picture of the past.  This book begins with a chapter that seeks to answer the quetion "What is history?', through an examination of the nature and types of historical evidence.  Each of the following seven chapters is a detailed investigation of a major aspect of Australia history, each focusing ona different records, maps, posters, historical geography, archaeology and secondary sources.  The student is expected to use the evidence provided to asnwer the questions posed throughout the book.  There is an 'Activities" section at the back of the book can followed up.
